Melada revolves around femme multiracial and multicultural identifying visual artists, the complexity of self-expression and representation through visual art therein, and the way those artists navigate western cultural institutions where their identity is at odds with the power structures in place. Melada is a print publication showcasing multiracial femme artists and works they have produced, alongside personal interviews about how they construct their own identities as multiracial people, how identity affects what and how they create, and how the power of perspective in institutional environments has influenced their work and personal lives.

The soft release of the first issue is an evening at Spaceus for the contributors and other local artist to get a copy, meet each other and share stories. Copies available for non-contributors for $12 each. Food and refreshments provided.
